We have just started a Twilight themed BOM Mystery quilt on
twilight_crafts if you are interested in having a look. A lot of the blocks, particularly the beginners ones will be suitable for non-twilight themed quilts, so even if you're not a twilight fan, it's worth watching.
Anyway the first blocks are posted so go have a look :)

I've been beavering away on several quilt block designs at the moment and i've finally got around to testing a few of them. Here is one of my Twilight themed ones i'm particularly happy with. Its a paper pieced (foundation piecing) style quilt block. I did the original pattern in 5", then took one look at all the tiny pieces and enlarge it up to 10". If it was to be done at 5" i would recommend using 1/8" seam allowance so that it doesn't get to bulky. That and a lot of patience!
I chose a cream coloured sparkly fabric for edwards skin tone. i was going to use a white but it looked too pale compared to everything else. The photo isn't exactly 100% true to colour, but it's close enough for you to get an idea.
The meadow flowers have been done using seed beads, however they could equally be done in french knots. The hardest fabric choice was a shirt fabric for Edward. I'm no fashionista myself and i didn't want Edward to look like a dork. I tried to get something that looked subtly stylish. His Jacket sleeve and collar are in slightly different tone to the main jacket to give it some definition, whilst not attempting to be contrasting and dramatic.
In the block layout I have applied the photography rule of thirds in the the main focus point should be in the top/bottom/side third of the overall image. Here the focus point is between Edward's and Bella's faces. The rest of the block is to indicate the open feeling of the meadow and a feeling that it's just the two of them.
Anyway here's the block. I intend to make the block pattern public at a later date.

Well i FINALLY finished the block 1 for the Zeppelin Threads Twilight Mystery Quilt.
This quilt block it is meant to represent the circle of places Bella roams between. (Bella’s house at top, the Cullen house to the right, Jacob’s at the res. at bottom, and a special little stone cottage that shows up in Breaking Dawn to your left)
Well here it is. i wasn't sure about my dark background colour (its a very dark green) but i'm sort of getting used to it now. As i'm hopeless at traditional quilting i converted the pattern to paper piecing for these. In doing so i forgot to reverse the pattern so all my doors are on the wrong side and it was too late by the time i realised!!! So if anyone asks i'm going to say it's just a Southern Hemisphere thing along with reversed weather patterns and our water spiralling in the other direct when it goes down the drain....

BTW if anyone wants a copy of my paper pieced patterns, just send me your email via a pm and i'll send you a copy

Hi everybody!
rosiewook suggested that I post this quilt here. It's made from the various T-shirts my husband won in his years of playing in Star Trek and Star Wars CCG tournaments:
